Viewpoint Celebrates the Opening of the Newly Updated Robotics and Physics Lab
On Thursday, January 3, students and faculty gathering outside room 709 to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Detterman Robotics and Physics Lab. In his remarks, Head of School Mark McKee shared that this thoughtfully updated space will both compliment and support the Patriots Robotics Program, which was established 10 years ago at the request of the students. In fact, one of those students, Ernest Acosta ’09, was in attendance in his new role at Viewpoint as a teaching intern in the Computer Science Department, and he said that he never dreamed how far the program and the facilities would come.
Mr. McKee praised Robotics Coach and physics teacher Lance Argano-Rush, and Chief Operations Officer and Director of Construction David McAdoo, Director of Operations Mike Adams, and their team for working tirelessly to create this exciting new space for our students, where they now have a true machine shop to support the robotics, engineering, and design work they have been doing all along.
In his brief remarks at the conclusion of the ceremony, Mr. Argano-Rush expressed his gratitude to all involved as well as his excitement for the creative potential of this robotics-physics lab. He said, “I could not have imagined any of this when the Robotics Program began 10 years ago, and I cannot wait to see what the students of the present and the future will be able to make happen in this new space.”
