We are honored to announce that CAT, Viewpoint’s 2019 Film IV film, has been selected to the prestigious Academy Award®-Qualifying Indy Shorts International Film Festival presented by Heartland Film (July 21-26).  Only 4% of submitted films were selected for the program and CAT was selected to be the Narrative Winner in this year’s High School Film Competition Program.

on $500 for being a category (Narrative, Documentary, Animated) winner, and the film is one of only 12 high school films that will compete for the juried $2,500 Summer White Lynch Memorial Grand Prize.

Film IV teacher Monica Hoenig explained, “This is an incredible accomplishment. Given that high school films cannot submit to the Academy, to be selected and win a category prize at an Academy-qualifying festival is one of the highest accolades a high school film can get in the film industry.”
CAT was directed by Madeleine White ’19, produced by Ian Sheets ’19, and executive produced by Monica Hoenig. The film tells the story of a man arriving home the morning after missing his daughter’s birthday and he runs over the family cat. In an attempt to hide the cat in the backyard, he finds himself drowning in the pool. From his perspective at the bottom of the pool, he watches the last minutes of his life unfold. Click here to view the trailer for CAT
