Viewpoint Community Gathers Online for “Viewpoint at Home” to Support the Patriot Community Fund
Saturday, May 23 was a historic night for Viewpoint School. An untold number of people from around the world, using nearly 2,000 registered devices, gathered to watch “Viewpoint at Home,” the School’s first online benefit. Through their generosity and enthusiasm for the School we raised more the $500,000 for the Patriot Community Fund!
The evening’s entertainment included performances by Viewpoint parents Stevie Wonder, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and John Fogerty, who played with his children Kelsey ’20, Tyler ’11, and Shane ’10. The event also featured four live auction items, a silent auction, student performances, a tribute to our seniors, and shout-outs from current and alumni families. It was a truly joyful evening!
Head of School, Mark McKee, who hosted “Viewpoint at Home” with comedian/actor/Viewpoint parent, Ken Jeong, explained the importance of this event, “We created the Patriot Community Fund to help provide temporary need-based financial aid for those impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, in the hope that economic hardship would not prevent any of our students from continuing their education at Viewpoint. We were excited to host the “Viewpoint at Home” event as a way to both raise needed funds and to bring our community together to take care of one another. I am simply overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our community. These funds will be used to support families through this crisis and we are so grateful.”
The silent auction, with some newly added auction items, is open until Saturday, May 30 at 9:00 p.m.Click hereto check it out.
Finally, thank you to all of the members of the Viewpoint community who contributed their time, talent, and resources to make “Viewpoint at Home” such a success. It is amazing what is possible when we all come together – even if it is just virtually!
