Primary and Lower School Students Celebrate the Holiday Season
On Saturday, December 14, the joyful sounds of children’s voices filled the Bank of America Performing Arts Center, as Viewpoint’s Primary and Lower School students presented the 2019 Holiday Program, “‘Tis the Season to Shine.” With enthusiastic and heartfelt performances from each of the classes, as well as the Primary and Lower School Choruses and Dancers, the audience delighted in the spirit of the season. In addition to the song and dance, narrators from the Fifth Grade Class shared stories of their own families’ special holiday traditions.
“The children were fabulous,” said Mrs. Claudia Antoine, Head of Lower School. “They brought tears to my eyes. The singing, the dancing, the acting, and the narration were all exceptional. I spoke with several parents afterwards, and each one of them marveled at the confidence, poise, and talent our children demonstrated on a professional stage.”
For the sixth consecutive year, Viewpoint’s dance teacher Ms. Gabrielle Brown, a former soloist with American Ballet Theater, choreographed a piece from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. Each grade level performed a part of the “The Nutcracker – Short and Suite,” giving all the dancers the opportunity to shine and to charm the audience with their adorable performances.
The Primary and Lower School Dancers were joined on stage by Upper and Middle School dancers Lily D. ’20, Dani G. ’20, Evie W.’20, Hannah R. ’23, Sydney I. ’23, Eddy C. ’26, and Chloe B. ’26, aswell as special guest artist, Viewpoint parent Mr. Patrick Finn.
The holiday program concluded with Viewpoint’s fifty-first Giving of the Greens thoughtfully prepared by the VSSA. This annual tradition, in which each child receives a beautiful spray of greens, represents the School’s abiding belief in the continual growth of each student and the warmest wishes for a joyful holiday season.
