Despite the challenges of fire and wind, when it comes to Great Pumpkin Day, the fun must go on!From giant yellow Pikachustohistorical figures like Alexander Hamilton and Abraham Lincoln and iconic characters like Rosie the Riveter,to multiple bejeweled queens andcreepy clowns, the creatively costumed Primary and Lower School students delighted their families with a fantastic Great Pumpkin Day assembly in the Paul Family Athletic Center.
The performances from Grades Kindergarten through Four – with introductions from Fifth Grade - concluded with a special guest performance by Rick Springfield. The crowd roared as he played “Jesse’s Girl,” and were even more thrilled when his son, Third Grade teacher and former Viewpoint student Josh Springthorpe, joined him on the stage for the Viewpoint School Great Pumpkin Day favorite song, “Witches’ Brew.”
Head of School Mark McKee reminded the audience how rewarding it is to gather together for cherished traditions like Great Pumpkin Day. For more than 60 year, Viewpoint has celebrated the joy and imagination of childhood with this special day, and we are already looking forward to seeing what the children will come up with next year.
