The Viewpoint Senior Speech Program for 2019-20 Begins
The Senior Speech Program is a capstone event for all Viewpoint seniors. Some students are filled with trepidation at the prospect of writing and presenting a three to five minute speech, while others embrace the opportunity to speak in front of their teachers and peers.
In the Class of 2020, there are 12 cohorts of 11 students each, and today the first half of the first cohort gave their speeches. Using the NPR series, “This I believe,” as the initial prompt, the topics ranged from the personal to the spiritual to the inspirational and the nonsensical. The essential elements to writing a good senior speech are honesty, personality, and clarity, and regardless of how they felt about standing at the podium in the sunshine, they all did a great job, and we will look forward to the speeches to come throughout the school year.
