Class of 2020 Gathers for the Annual College Counseling Summer Institute
In the last quiet moments of the summer, Viewpoint seniors gathered on campus for theCollege Counseling Summer Institute (CCSI).
From August 13-15, students in the Class of 2020 had the chance to work on college essays with the English faculty, and attend workshops on the Common and UC Application. For students with an interest in the arts, there were optional informational sessions, and all of the students reviewed the application calendar and learned tips for organizing the whole process.
Rebecca Heller, Senior Associate Director of College Counseling, shared her thoughts on this annual program, “CCSI is designed to be task driven where we are working on the applications rather than just talking about them. At CCSI, we complete many of the seemingly daunting tasks around college applications. As rising seniors fill out the Common Application, UC application, and work with English teachers on their personal statement, they realize that they’ve got this! It’s the actual doing of the work that helps lessen their stress around the process.”
