The Upper School Conservatory of Theater Presents In the Heights
On April 12, 13 and 14, The Upper School Conservatory of Theater presented the musical,In The Heightsin the Carlson Family Theater.
Auditions were open to all Upper School students and were held the second week of December, with rehearsals beginning the first week of January. This 2008 Tony and Grammy Award winning musical put Lin-Manuel Miranda on the map as a fresh new voice inmusicaltheater.In The Heightsexploreswhat it means to chase your dreams as you cling to your roots, and to celebrate the community from which you grew. This revolutionary musical was the first to combine urban rhythms and dance with hip-hop lyrics to tell a captivating story of the people of Washington Heights – a largely Latino-American New York City neighborhood on the brink of change.
The show was directed and choreographed by Lisa Roskowinski and musical directed by Bill Brendle. It featured a cast of 31 talented Upper School students including 13 Seniors: Jalen A., Campbell B., Sophie B., Jason C., Diamyn D., Natalie F., Katie H., Ellery H., Alex L., Curran M., Ian R., Jack W., and Edward W..
