Latest Fire Update -- Nov. 10

Dear Viewpoint Family,
In the last 24 hours we have learned of families that have sustained losses, including an unknown number of total losses of family homes. We have also heard of homes that were saved by heroic firefighters, and we have received numerous offers of housing and other help. We are working to organize assistance and to reach out to understand families’ needs, even as the situation unfolds. We know the winds are expected to return, and the crisis is not yet over.
Depending on the events of the next 24 to 36 hours, we are planning for a possible return to school on Tuesday, November 13. When we return, we will have free dress for the entire week, as we recognize even families whose homes are safe have been dislocated during evacuations. Counselors, teachers, and staff will be present to support students and families and one another in coping with these events. We will understand that students will be returning from a wide range of circumstances. Students need not worry about school work, textbooks, or materials during these times. We will work for a return to routine to provide normalcy, stability, and comfort.
We will let you know the plan for school in the coming week by 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12.
If your family has suffered losses, will experience extended evacuation, or have other needs, please email us at  We will be working to organize the many offers of help and to meet our community’s needs.  Thank you to everyone who has reached out and who will continue to be there for one another in our Viewpoint community and in our broader community in Southern California.
Stay safe and stay strong.
