Viewpoint's Upper School Conservatory of Theatre Earns Standing Ovations with Three Show-Stopping Performances of Urinetown, The Musical

Over the weekend of April 26-28, Viewpoint’s Carlson Family Theater was transformed into a vibrant world of rebellion and hilarity as more than 40 cast and crew members from the Upper School devoted months to crafting an unforgettable production of Urinetown, The Musical. Our talented performers brought the stage to life with their energetic performances, showcasing complex acting, mesmerizing dance routines, and stunning vocal solos and duets that left audiences in awe.

Set in the not-so-distant future, Urinetown, The Musical is a hilarious satire that explores a world where the lack of water allows a single malevolent company to profit by charging admission for one of humanity’s most basic needs. With its purposely provocative title, this Tony Award-winning, mainstream musical had a successful run on Broadway and has since been performed by high school students across the country.

“My mission is to push our students beyond their artistic boundaries. We explored diverse theatre and musical genres, believing that true growth occurs when we step outside of our comfort zones,” said Lisa Roskowinski, Director and Choreographer. “Collaborating with this dedicated cast on our unique and challenging production was an absolute honor.”

After the final show, emotions ran high as our Seniors Daniyar Ali ’24Avrick Altmann ’24, Jessica Cao ’24, Laurel Eith ’24, Violet Kaltman ’24, Ethan Argano-Rush ’24 and Anthony Zakari ’24 were acknowledged for their dedication and talent. Tears flowed freely as they wrapped up their very last performance, leaving their mark on the Zuckerman Family Stage of the Carlson Family Theater they had called home for so long. The audience rose to their feet in a heartfelt standing ovation, honoring not only our Seniors, but the entire talented crew who had poured their hearts into making this production a resounding success.
