Congratulations to our Varsity Boys Track & Field team for their historic win at the 2024 CIF Championship this past weekend. Surpassing all predictions, they scored 57.5 points, securing Viewpoint's first-ever CIF team title for Track & Field.
Senior Captain Jude Holling ’24 played a vital role in maintaining Viewpoint's lead throughout the meet with outstanding performances in the 110 hurdles, 400 meters, and 300 hurdles. Additionally, Freshman Darren Haggerty ’27 significantly boosted the team's performance with excellent showings in both the long jump and high jump.
Eric He ’25 secured the CIF championship title in the 200 meters, setting a new personal record and earning an additional 10 points for the team. Olly O’Connor ’26 delivered an impressive performance in the 3200 meters, further contributing to the team's success.
"Since Coach Jerry Brown and I started coaching together last year, we've made it a priority to ensure that every one of our athletes sees us as one cohesive team,” said Coach Patrick Neville. “Sprinters cheer for distance runners, distance runners cheer for throwers, and regardless of the discipline, we are all united. This singular focus has been instrumental in the success we've achieved."
The 4x400 relay team, consisting of Senior Captain Kasey Lee ’24, Jude Holling ’24, Noah Oduwole ’26, and Eric He ’25, secured a second-place finish, setting a new school record and ultimately securing Viewpoint's CIF team title. The team's success was celebrated widely by our coaches, athletes, alumni, and supporters, marking a historic moment for our Track & Field program.
"Besides Jude and Kasey, our team is quite young, so we should have a good chance of achieving this again,” added Neville. “We also have the highest number of returning points next year, so our prospects are very promising."
Congratulations once again to our CIF Champions, and here's to many more victories in the years to come!
