The energy inside the gym was electric on September 30, as Patriot fans filled the stands for the annual Spike Out Cancer Girls Volleyball Night. Students, student-athletes, parents, faculty, and staff all came together—not only to cheer on the JV and Varsity Girls Volleyball teams in their matchup against Crossroads, but also to unite behind an important cause: raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

“This is year four of supporting the research for finding a cure, and it was particularly special for me because my mom was diagnosed last December with Breast Cancer,” said Head Girls Volleyball Coach, Sheldon Sheehy. “It was great to have her in attendance this year, and to bring the community together in support of a great cause.”

The stands glowed in pink as the community embraced the theme of the night: “Everyone Wear Pink.” From the opening serve to the final point, the enthusiasm never wavered as both games were played in front of one of the biggest home crowds of the season.

Between points and sets, fans joined in giveaways and raffles, while a bake sale kept the spirit (and energy) high. Sheehy added:

“I hope everyone who joined us felt the spirit of unity across our campus, and that those currently undergoing treatment were uplifted by the support around them—and left with renewed hope in their journey toward healing and a cure.”

The evening wasn’t just about volleyball—it was about impact. Thanks to the generosity of the Patriot community, the event was a successful fundraiser, with all proceeds donated directly to the American Cancer Society.
