Meet Brittany Thackery: Viewpoint’s Newest Associate Director of Admission and Athletics Liaison

This fall, Viewpoint School welcomed Brittany Thackery as our new Associate Director of Admission and Athletics Liaison. With an impressive background in college athletics, student development, and recruitment, Brittany brings a wealth of experience and a passion for supporting student-athletes both on and off the field.

A former Division I softball player at the University of Arizona, she experienced firsthand the demands of balancing academics and athletics. Originally pursuing law, she earned a degree in Political Science and worked at a law firm before realizing her true passion lay in sports.

“I wanted to be around people, talking, and engaging in a more dynamic environment. Working in a law firm was a lot of paperwork, and I just kept thinking—this isn’t fulfilling me,” Brittany explained. “So I decided to give a career in sports a try, knowing that if it didn’t work out, I could always go back to law school.”

She transitioned into coaching softball, earned a master’s degree in Sport Administration, and took on various administrative roles in collegiate athletics—including at Washington State, Mississippi State, and most recently, the University of Southern California (USC).

At USC, Brittany worked closely with student-athletes, helping them navigate academic and athletic demands while preparing for life beyond college sports. She also played a key role in recruiting and onboarding athletes, ensuring they had the tools to succeed both in competition and in the classroom.

“I’ve seen every stage of the student-athlete experience—from recruitment to graduation—and I love helping students make informed decisions about their future,” she shared.

Now at Viewpoint, Brittany is excited to apply her knowledge in an independent school setting. In her dual role, she supports prospective families through the admissions process while also serving as a key connection between the athletics department and student-athletes.

“I love that at Viewpoint, students aren’t placed in one box—they can be athletes, artists, leaders, and more,” Brittany said. “It’s exciting to be in an environment where students are encouraged to explore all of their interests and talents.”

As she settles in, Brittany looks forward to strengthening relationships with students, coaches, and families, ensuring that Viewpoint student-athletes have the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

“This athletics liaison role is new, so we’re evolving it and seeing what’s needed,” Brittany said. “We’ve already introduced new initiatives, like providing weekly lists of prospective student-athletes to the athletics department and hosting an athletics open house. It’s exciting to test new ideas, refine them, and figure out what works best. I’m looking forward to continuing to shape this role and finding ways to support our student-athletes.”
