Girls Varsity Softball Team Is Finals-Bound and Heading to the CIF Division 6 Championships

Our Girls Varsity Softball players will be swinging for the fences when they compete in the CIF Division 6 championship game for the first time since 2008. The team will face Ganesha High School on Friday, May 17, at 1:00 p.m. at Deanna Manning Fields.

The team's journey to the finals has been nothing short of remarkable. They clinched the Gold Coast League Champions title undefeated and fought their way through tough playoff rounds, emerging victorious each time.

"It was a team effort winning our second consecutive league title, but the playoff run has been and continues to be the work of our softball veterans; Emjay Peck ’26, Carly Nelson ’25, Anniston Aragon ’26, Autumn Kreshek ’25, and Alora Glass ’27," said Jeff Alkazian, Head Softball Coach. "They've kept us in the games with timely hitting and stellar defense, while our new players have also made significant contributions."

Highlighting stand-out moments of the season, Coach Jeff mentioned the team's competitive spirit against strong opponents like St. Bonaventure, Emjay Peck's stellar performance in the semi-final game, and the remarkable comeback against Calabasas High School, where they turned a 0-7 deficit into a 9-7 victory.

"Coach Rick and I took over the program from Coach Pam O. seven years ago, and we had big shoes to fill,” added Coach Jeff. “This season has been a Cinderella story; no one expected us to come this far. Every win feels like a bonus.”

As they prepare for the championship game, Coach Jeff's message to his team is clear: believe in yourselves, fight until the end, and make history.

"This is the classic 'David and Goliath' scenario. We're up against a very strong team who've scored a ton of runs, but we have the best pitcher in CIF D6, and a group of players who will never give up. I am so proud of each and every one of them," Coach Jeff affirmed.

For those looking to support the team in person, tickets can be purchased online via GoFan. General admission tickets for adults are priced at $12.00, while high school students and children aged 5-13 can purchase tickets for $5.00 each. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to cheer on the Viewpoint Varsity Softball Team as they compete for the championship title!
