This year, Viewpoint School welcomes Justine Fink as its new Viewpoint Dance Company Director and Teacher of Dance for the Middle & Upper School.

For Fink, dance has been a lifelong passion. She first stepped into a studio as a young child in Dallas, Texas, taking lessons in ballet, tap, and jazz before discovering her love of hip hop in high school. Even while majoring in psychology at Indiana University, she found herself continually drawn back into the world of dance.

“I joined a dance company in college, started traveling to conventions, and spent summers in New York immersed in the professional dance world,” Fink said. “I just couldn’t picture myself doing anything else.”

After graduating, Fink turned that passion into a career. With guidance from renowned choreographer Brian Friedman, she signed with an agent in Los Angeles and quickly began building her resume.

“I’ve worn a lot of different hats in the industry,” Fink shared. “I danced and choreographed for LMFAO, was featured on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’ as a dance teacher, and performed with Faith Hill on ‘The View.’ I also choreographed for television shows on Fox, Hulu, and CBS, and even worked on a feature film called ‘Scrambled,’ which is now on Hulu.”

In addition to performing, Fink launched her own dance company, producing full-length shows and red-carpet events in Hollywood while also booking dancers on professional jobs. Later, during the pandemic, she turned her focus to supporting other artists through career coaching.

“I’ve always been kind of addicted to creation in the dance world,” Fink said. “That eventually led me to start Mentor Management, where it was really about giving guidance to those who wanted to do this for a living. I also created the podcast ‘Dance Careers: Unfiltered’ to reach even more dancers navigating the industry.”

Her love of teaching soon became central to her work. Since 2013, Fink has served on the faculty at AMDA College & Conservatory of the Performing Arts and with Souldesoul Dance Convention. She also spent many years as a guest artist in residence at Windward School, where she choreographed for the Middle School Repertory Dance Ensemble.

Fink’s path eventually led her back to Viewpoint, a place she already knew well. She first coached Viewpoint Dance Company from 2013 to 2015, later returned as a long-term substitute in 2023, and now leads the Dance Company and teaches in the Middle and Upper School.

“I just love being with young dancers and instilling that passion for dance,” Fink added. “It’s about more than just physical skills. Dance teaches discipline and creativity that apply far beyond the studio. At the end of the day, it’s about how you make the audience feel and the stories you tell. I’m excited to put my stamp on the creative life here at Viewpoint.”

We are thrilled to have Justine Fink as part of the Viewpoint community and look forward to the energy, creativity, and inspiration she will bring to our dance program!
