Parent Partnerships
Viewpoint School Service Association—Powered by Parent Volunteers
The VSSA recognizes the importance of maintaining and nurturing the unique traditions of our community and our School. In keeping with the School’s motto, "Fide et Amore,” (with Faithfulness and Love), our parent volunteers at Viewpoint truly enrich the lives of our children each day.
The VSSA supports the non-academic activities of the School.
Our parent volunteers work closely with administrators, faculty, and staff to benefit all students and to build a sense of community among our families
There are many ways you can volunteer. Although some of the VSSA-sponsored events and services produce revenue, the VSSA’s primary purpose is “friend raising” and “fun raising.” We direct any monies raised back to VSSA-sponsored events and activities to support our students, faculty, and parents.
VSSA Spotlights
Each spring, the Viewpoint School Service Association (VSSA), our parent volunteer group, hosts its annual luncheon—a celebration that brings together members of our community to connect, and recognize the extraordinary achievements of our Upper School students in the areas of community service, building community, and fostering belonging.
This year’s event, held at the Sherwood Country Club, invited guests to enjoy a curated shopping experience, lunch, and a festive atmosphere—including a prize for Best Kentucky Derby Hat—all set against the stunning backdrop of rolling hills and spring sunshine.
As the program began, Autumn Kreshek ’25 was presented with this year’s Community Service Award by Shelley Kierman, Associate Director of College Counseling. This award, established by VSSA, honors an Upper School student who has demonstrated outstanding dedication to serving both the Viewpoint community and the greater world.
“Autumn is the kind of person who doesn’t need to hold an official title to lead and initiate,” said Shelley Kierman. “She cares deeply about service and helping others, and she operates from a place of empathy and kindness. She finds ways to incorporate service into every aspect of her life, as a natural outpouring of her character.”
The program continued with the presentation of the Viewpoint School Belonging and Community Life Award, which recognizes students who exemplify leadership, compassion, and a deep commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive school environment. Established in 2025 as an evolution of a prior award honoring social justice and ethical leadership, this new recognition celebrates students who go beyond, engaging in meaningful efforts to build community and foster belonging.
In its inaugural year, three exceptional Upper School students—Zooey Jeong ’25, Jake Sklar ’25, and Summer Garland ’25—were honored for their unwavering dedication to academic excellence, volunteerism, active participation in education and celebration of cultures.
“Each of these students has given of their time, ideas, and talents to creatively offer education and insight that nurture our welcoming and inclusive Viewpoint environment,” said Patricia Jackson, Chief Belonging and Community Officer. “They are accomplished beyond their years, and it has been my great pleasure to watch them grow and develop into the amazing humans that they are.”
Following the awards, guests were treated to moving solo performances by Upper School Concert Choir members Julian Dans ’25, Lily Davis ’25, Nathan Danese ’25, and Carly Nelson ’25, under the direction of Middle & Upper School Choral Music Teacher Ms. Carrie Dietsch.
Congratulations to our exceptional award recipients and the entire Class of 2025. Your actions and voices continue to shape a better world, and we can’t wait to see where your leadership takes you next!
Last month, the Viewpoint School Student Association (VSSA) hosted its highly anticipated Annual Book Fair at Barnes & Noble in Calabasas. The event brought together book lovers and supporters, with proceeds from in-store purchases benefiting VSSA initiatives that support student and faculty activities.
Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities. Families and students browsed an extensive selection of books while also receiving a complimentary raffle ticket with their purchases. In the afternoon, guests had the chance to meet renowned authors and attend book signings with Mary Rand Hess, Lenny Rosenberg & Adaeze Nwanonyiri, and Darren Mitchell.
Later in the day, visitors enjoyed a lively lineup of student performances. The event featured Traditional Strings, Suzuki Strings, Primo Orchestra, and a spirited routine by the Viewpoint Cheerleaders. The evening concluded with a singer-songwriter showcase featuring Ella Crenshaw ’26, Nathan Danese ’25, Julian Dans ’25, Sadie Kieffer ’26, and Olivia Lakhani ’26, highlighting the incredible talents of our Upper School students.
Congratulations to our dedicated parent volunteers for organizing another successful Book Fair that brought the community together in celebration of reading and learning!

Last month, our community came together to support the Viewpoint School Service Association (VSSA) at its annual Holiday Luncheon and Boutique held at The Four Seasons in Westlake Village.
Attendees had the opportunity to shop from 21 different local vendors, including stores like Elfin Los Angeles, Malibu Road Clothing, Christy Kendall Photography, The Foundry, Not Rational, and more, ensuring they could find something for everyone on their holiday shopping list. The event was highly successful, with 20% of proceeds provided to the VSSA for student and faculty activities.

Since 1964, Viewpoint’s students have celebrated Great Pumpkin Day and each year they eagerly anticipate this beloved Halloween tradition. On the morning of Thursday, October 31, students from the Primary and Lower Schools celebrated Great Pumpkin Day by wearing their costumes to school and enjoying a trick-or-treating adventure through Booothtacular, made possible by our dedicated VSSA parent volunteers.
Karpatian Courtyard was transformed into Halloween lane, featuring a booth for each grade, creatively and cleverly decorated. From Witches, I Scream, Monsters, Inc., and Mad Scientists, to the Sephorror House, Alice in Wonderland, and Candyland, each class visited the booths and received special treats. The pure joy on the faces of children and adults alike won’t soon be forgotten.
Following this new and exciting activity, students, parents, faculty, and staff gathered at the Paul Family Athletic Center (PFAC) to watch TK-5 students perform at the annual Great Pumpkin Day Assembly. Hosted by our Fifth Grade students, this year’s theme was “Law & Order SPU (Special Pumpkins Unit) and told an entertaining story of “Who Stole the Witches’ Brew Track?” Between scenes, Kindergarteners through Fourth Graders treated the audience to a selection of Halloween-themed tunes, including “Bitty Bitty Bat,” “Purple People Eater,” “Something Spooky,” “The Addams Family Theme,” “Zombie Style,” and “I Love Halloween.”
A spooktacular time was had by all at the School’s 60th annual Great Pumpkin Day event!
Viewpoint School recognizes Dr. Niniek Purnomo and Klaus A. Woizik and The Deng Family for their leadership support in the Viewpoint Fund and their symbolic sponsorship of this event as donors in our Chair's and Head of School Circles.

VSSA Dues
Your VSSA dues fund three primary activities, with an emphasis on providing value-added services to:
- Create the best experience possible for our students on a daily basis.
- Appreciate our faculty and staff and provide support services throughout the year for various activities and events, which include a monthly brunch and year-end luncheons for all faculty and staff.
- Support activities that build a strong sense of community among our parent body.
Being active in the VSSA is a wonderful way to meet new parents and make wonderful memories. Our success depends on parents, and we all benefit from the dedication of our volunteers!
