Yes, we encourage families to submit their applications prior to the deadline in order to schedule the family meeting. Please note we do not release decisions early for early applications, and an early application does not receive a higher priority in regards to admission.

Applicants to TK must have turned four years old prior to August 1 of the year they wish to enter Viewpoint.

Transitional Kindergarten: 32 (two classrooms) in 2024

Kindergarten: Three classrooms total of approximately 18 children per classroom.  18-24 spots may be available for new Kindergarten applicants in 2024.

Other Grades: A handful of spaces are typically available in Grades 1- 5, 8, and 10- 12. Contact the Office of Admission for more information.

No, at this time they are optional. Students applying to Grades 5-12 have the option to sit for a standardized test—either the ISEE or the SSAT. Test scores only represent one component of the application process. The admission committee always considers the whole application file (including a student’s transcript, interview, application, teacher and administrator recommendations) in order to get the fullest picture of a student.

Yes. A family meeting is required for all applicants to the school. Both parents and the child should be present. Students applying to Grades 5-12 are also interviewed individually. 

The Character Skills Snapshot is a required component of the application process for students applying to Grades 6-12.

We know that your child is much more than just test scores and grades in an application folder.  Those are important, but they tell us only part of who your child is.  The Character Skills Snapshot (CSS) helps us to know your child better from multiple angles beyond grades and scores.

You may be considering Viewpoint because you are seeking an education that prizes and develops not only academic excellence, but also character, values and social-emotional growth. To that end, the Snapshot provides an opportunity for us to explore the ways in which Viewpoint’s community might enrich and benefit from your child’s intellectual curiosity, teamwork, initiative, responsibility, resilience, open mindedness, and social awareness.

How much does it cost?
The cost of the Character Skills Snapshot is $60. Financial Aid applicants will receive a fee waiver code via email.

What’s involved in taking it?
Your child takes the Snapshot at home, online, at any time that’s convenient for them.  It’s about 25 minutes long. The Snapshot is accessed via a link provided to the parents upon registering.

Viewpoint offers financial aid to qualified applicants, emphasizing those in the higher grades first, and making awards at the lower grades when possible.  At this time, there is no financial aid available for the Transitional Kindergarten (TK).   Click on Financial Aid for detailed information on the Financial Aid application process.

Students in Grades K-8 wear uniforms. Students in Grades 9-12 follow a dress code. Students in TK do not wear uniforms, but rather, appropriate play-based attire in school colors.

Viewpoint is a day school with no boarding facilities, and we do not place international students in homestay programs.

We strongly prefer that students from abroad — if they are not living with their own family — reside with relatives or friends in the area who have a vested interest in their well-being.

Viewpoint School is authorized under Federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. *Please note: International students requiring F-1 Visas are not eligible to apply for the TK program. Families of international students considering Viewpoint should keep the following points in mind:

We consider scores from either exam equally. Additionally, students may sit for these tests more than once if they like. They can also sit for both if they wish.
