Viewpoint’s Sixth Annual All-School Convocation and First Virtual Convocation Continues Cherished Tradition

While there were no excited voices to fill the Paul Family Athletic Center this year, Viewpoint’s community welcomed the chance to gather for the School’s Sixth Annual All-School Convocation and First Virtual Convocation on Friday, September 18. More than 1,000 students in Grades Kindergarten through Twelve, faculty, staff, parents, and trustees logged in to hear a warm welcome from Head of School Mark McKee, Associate Head of School Bob Bryan, and our four Division Heads, Alan Howie, Stephen Chan, Claudia Antoine, and Cathy Adelman.

In keeping with tradition, the event began with the sounds of the bagpipe played by longtime friend of Viewpoint, George Hall. After hearing a recording of the “Star Spangled Banner” and watching a video of joyful activities on campus, the program began with a Land Acknowledgement to the Native American tribes who once lived on the land where Viewpoint now stands. This was followed by warm welcomes and individual shouts outs from the seniors in the Class of 2021 to the Kindergarteners in the Class of 2033.

Mr. McKee shared the theme for the 2020-21 school year, which is “All In.” He invited all of the members of Viewpoint’s community to commit to embracing one another and to honoring the diversity that makes the School such a wonderful place to be – whether we are together on campus or at a temporary distance.

We wish everyone a safe, healthy, and wonderful year ahead!
