Viewpoint Alumni from the 90s to 2023 Reunited and Honored Beloved Employee Patrick Marquez at Annual On-Campus Event

On Saturday, June 1, you could find alums from the past four decades shooting the Breeze(way) and celebrating 26-year employee Patrick Marquez, recipient of the 2024 Alumni Award. Joined by their former teachers, coaches, administrators, and staff members, Viewpoint alums reminisced about their time at the school and caught up on their lives today.

A family-friendly, annual event, guests enjoyed a classic photo booth, a crafting area, a phenomenal face painter, and great food and drinks from alumni-owned distilleries and wineries. All activities happened in and around the “Breezeway,” an original area of the Viewpoint School campus where high schoolers hung out back in the day.

Alison Steelberg Corneau ’97, TK-5th Technology Integration Specialist and Alumni Relations Coordinator, kicked off the program by welcoming our alums and special guests, and teeing up our tribute to Patrick Marquez.

“Over the last 26 years, Patrick Marquez has held many positions and has supported, coached, mentored, taught, trained, camp-counselor’d, and inspired thousands of students and athletes,” said Alison. “With his booming voice, larger-than-life personality, firm but tender leadership, he is a well-deserving recipient of this year’s Alumni Award.”

A handful of alums and administrators delivered warm remarks about Patrick, his tenure at Viewpoint, and most importantly the impact he’s made by leading from the heart. Viewpoint speakers included Mark McKee, Head of School and President, Patrick Moyal, Director of Athletics, Alan Howie, Head of Upper School, and Stephen Chan, Head of Middle School. Patrick delivered an emotional speech, with his family front and center in the audience (wife Adrianna and two children, Adam ’27 and Alina ’29).

“I want to express my gratitude for being honored as the 2024 Alumni Award Recipient. I am deeply humbled and grateful for this recognition,” said Patrick. “My time at Viewpoint has been instrumental in shaping my personal and professional life, and it is truly an honor to be acknowledged by an institution that has given me and my family so much over the past 26 years.”
