Our Upper School Music Ensembles Reached the Ultimate Crescendo When They Swept Awards at the WorldStrides Heritage Music Festival - Viewpoint Students Competed Against 60 Ensembles from 25 Schools Across the U.S.

After two years without the opportunity to compete, the hard work of our Viewpoint’s Upper School Music Ensembles was recognized when they swept awards at the WorldStrides Heritage Music Festival at Disneyland Resort on Saturday, March 19, 2022.  They successfully competed against 60 ensembles from 25 schools across the nation.

Their accolades include:

  •  The Wind Ensemble received a silver medal and first place in their division.
  •  Voices Now received a superior rating with Annabelle Grandy ’23 receiving an award for her solo in the ensemble’s song, “Lullaby”.
  • The Concert Choir received a superior rating, first place in their division, and an invitation to the Festival of Gold for next year.
  • The Upper School Orchestra received a superior rating, the Adjudicator award (for a high score), tied for top-scoring orchestra at the festival, and also received an invitation to the Festival of Gold for next year.
  •  Viewpoint School won the Festival Sweepstakes Award which is presented to the top-performing school when combining instrumental and choral scores.

Dr. Kristin Herkstroeter, Music Department Chair and Strings teacher, said, “The pandemic has been such a challenge for music classes. Band classes are still being held outdoors. The Choir classes only recently moved back into the choir room. For our students to receive any award is laudable, but for us to sweep the awards is truly remarkable. Congratulations to our students and the entire Music Department. I am so very proud of their success.”
