Viewpoint School provides a budget for the librarians of the Prinn, Lower School, and Primary School Libraries to purchase materials to support our curriculum and enrich our collections. The collections consist of fiction, nonfiction, reference, audiovisual, Internet databases, and professional resource materials, which address the needs of the students and faculty. The libraries subscribe to Internet-accessible databases, daily newspapers, and periodicals in print form. Viewpoint is a member of ISLE (Independent School Library Exchange), a consortium of Southern California independent school libraries whose purpose is to share resources.
Opening in September 2009: Fletcher Family Library for Grades 7-12
The design for a new secondary school library comprises more than 5,000 square feet of space – four times the size of the Prinn Library. This expertly crafted resource center is designed by our architects with recommendations from a library consultant and school administrators, librarians, faculty, and trustees to address the needs of Viewpoint’s students in the 21st Century. The library will be the School’s media resource center and facilitate the retrieval and usage of digital information (both database and audio-visual) while still providing access to books, periodicals, and reference materials.” In addition three group study rooms and 30 digital workstations will facilitate collaborative and independent research and study.
Working with award-winning architect Jeffrey Kalban and Associates, the School designed a complementary building adjacent to the Carlson Family Theater and the Gates Academic Center, which provides expansive views overlooking our scenic canyon. The Fletcher Family Library will be located on the lower level of this two-story building.
