Little Engine Brings Joy to the Kindergarten Families

Little Engine, which was performed with great joy and enthusiasm by all three Kindergarten classes recently on Blaney Patio for their families.

Little Engine, which was performed with great joy and enthusiasm by all three Kindergarten classes recently on Blaney Patio for their families.
For more than 20 years the Kindergarten's productions of this charming play have been a beloved Viewpoint tradition. Adapted from Watty Piper's childhood classic The Little Engine That Could, it teaches children the value of optimism and hard work. When the Birthday Train full of toys breaks down on its way over a mountain, the young performers, beautifully costumed and made up as teddy bears, dogs, clowns, soldiers, dolls, and lions plead with passing trains to help them.
The Shiny New Train, the Big Strong Engine, and the Old Rusty Engine all refuse to help, but in the end the Little Blue Train comes to the rescue and saves the day for the children over the mountain waiting for the toys on the Birthday Train.
In addition to the lovely message of value of perseverance, it is especially moving for the families to see Viewpoint’s youngest students up on stage performing with such poise. Parent Stacie de Armas Shrinsky remarked, “We were bubbling over with joy and pride as we watched the children perform with remarkable confidence in the Little Engine. The performances were absolutely precious!”
