In 1993, Viewpoint School established the Minority Admission Program (MAP) to help increase the enrollment in Viewpoint's Upper School of African American and Latino students who are in need of financial assistance. Students selected for admission under the aegis of MAP earn recognition and funding as MAP Scholars.

Because we actively seek to create an inclusive school community by enrolling students who represent a diverse array of backgrounds, Viewpoint's Office of Admission uses MAP to work with various outreach organizations, schools, and churches to identify and to recruit motivated and academically talented Latino and African American students with financial need interested in attending Viewpoint's Upper School.

We are looking for students who demonstrate a high level of motivation and an eagerness to become involved in the life of our School. The School admits MAP Scholars to Upper School based upon a review of transcripts from previous schools, recommendations, standardized test scores, and personal interviews. Students and families interested in MAP should inform the School during the admission process.

African American and Latino students who demonstrate financial need and who are accepted to Grades Nine through Twelve at Viewpoint School are eligible for tuition funding under the aegis of MAP. MAP Scholars receive MAP funds which cover full tuition, books, and fees, as provided by grants from several foundations and the School's operating budget. These are awarded on the basis of economic need as evaluated by Viewpoint School and the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS).
